Joomla is one of the many CMS that are out there. The three major CMS currently are WordPress, Drupal & Joomla. Many people are left wondering sometimes which CMS platform should they use for their website. There’s ¬†really is no solid answer to that. It is based on what you are trying to achieve or what are your future goals for your website. If you look below we will give a brief overview:

WordPress is one of the fastest growing CMS platforms out there at the moment. WordPress is sometimes known as a blogging platform. Yes it is great for blogging but is capable of way more then that. Over the years WordPress has transformed into a system that is adaptable to build almost anything you can think of. The reason for this is it’s flexibility and easy user interface. Also when it comes to SEO WordPress is better with SEO compared to Joomla or Drupal.

Joomla is also a great CMS right after a clean install it has more features than WordPress installed in the admin section, but does not have as many plugins/modules as WordPress. Nor does it have as many free themes as WordPress. This should not be a discouragement as Joomla is packed with features and gives you more control of certain aspects in comparison to WordPress.  Joomla is more known as a community based CMS. What we mean by this is that if you are looking to start a community based site then Joomla is more for you. Even thou it is thought of as a community based CMS it can still do a lot more. One thing to remember is that Joomla is like the in between when it comes to user interface and functionality when compared to Drupal and WordPress.

Drupal is a powerhouse when it comes to a true CMS as it gives you the ability to get really detailed when it comes to features, modifications, content display and security. The the one minor problem with Drupal is that it has a learning curve. The user interface is not as friendly as Joomla or WordPress. Even though their are a lot of people running Drupal for their personal sites or business sites this form of CMS is usually used by big companies or agencies.
